Etymology[ edit ] The name Monmouth is an English contraction of ‘Monnow-mouth’. The Welsh name for the river, Mynwy, which may originally have meant “fast-flowing”, was anglicised as Monnow. Indeed, the Council for British Archaeology have designated Monmouth as one of the top ten towns in Britain for archaeology. Archaeologists have found Roman pottery and coins within the modern town centre.

I’m blown away by the level of support from fellow rail enthusiasts in building this site. Their willingness to participate in its construction with no prospect of financial gain, just the satisfaction of being involved, is bloody marvellous. Starting in May , Derek’s input has been a massive undertaking and there have been times when the pair of us – just two bungling old geezers with a mutual love for trains and railways – were on our arthritic knees by the sheer size of it all.
And now here we are with three finished pages…or are they? The interest shown by modellers has spurred Derek to suggest a series of articles on the ‘Britannias’ that will be of particular interest to model makers Since taking early retirement, Derek’s knowledge of all things power-driven led him to making a start on correcting the many anomalies he found in books and magazines regarding the BR Class 7MT Britannias. Derek’s research has taken him more than 6 years and his findings now run into three page on this site.
This is in complete contrast to his original reservations. He commented – ‘Whilst the first group of Britannias Nos are indeed very interesting, and in some cases diverse, the history of the final batch of engines Nos is somewhat mundane by comparison, and so whilst I feel confident of filling a page with information on the first batch it would be tricky to give the same result for the remaining engines.
This is because the list of modifications diminished as they were put into the building programme and only half of these changes were required on later batches.

After an impressive pre-season, Shelvey undid all of his good summer work with a needless stamp on Dele Alli on the opening day of the season against Tottenham Hotspur. The suspension meant he had to watch on as Mikel Merino has sparkled in the Premier League in recent games while Isaac Hayden has also performed steadily in midfield. Shelvey enjoyed a nice early touch within 10 seconds of the start, and dinked a trademark ball to the right-hand side for Luke Charman.
Charman forced a corner but Norwich cleared their lines and the attack broke down. Norwich level after early Magpies goals On six minutes Shelvey attempted a shot from inside his own half and his looping effort almost caught out Norwich keeper Aston Oxborough. With 10 minutes on the clock, Shelvey started a move down the right-hand side with the ball eventually worked into the box, before Charman rammed home from 10 yards out to hand United the lead.

And that subject is the age-difference relationships between Foreign Men and Filipina Ladies. Whether you are reading this as someone with interest in moving to the Philippines, or as a person curious about this sort of relationship, I think you will find yourself challenged to keep an open mind about this. In a previous article I touched on the existence of this sort of relationship as being part of what older men should expect here. For the uninitiated, here is the situation.. Personally, I live on the small island of Mactan and I see it at least every other day.
And if I go to the larger malls in Cebu, I see it several times a day all through the day. What a rarely see, and by rare I mean perhaps three times in a four-month period.. It does happen, but here it is the exception, not the general rule.
As such be careful how and where you use them. And if you are easily offended please don’t read the page. Roman[ edit ] The capital of the Iceni tribe was a settlement located near to the village of Caistor St. According to a local rhyme, the demise of Venta Icenorum led to the development of Norwich: There are two suggested models of development for Norwich. It is possible that three separate early Anglo-Saxon settlements, one on the north of the river and two either side on the south, joined together as they grew or that one Anglo-Saxon settlement, on the north of the river, emerged in the mid-7th century after the abandonment of the previous three.
The ancient city was a thriving centre for trade and commerce in East Anglia in when it was raided and burnt by Swein Forkbeard the Viking king of Denmark.
